>From time to time I see people asking questions about channel
changing....now it's my turn.

I've been using the Humax tivo unit for over a year. Last night I came home
from work to find that every program it recorded.....recorded on the same
channel! (Spike-TV of all things!)

I have been using this unit for awhile without a problem and haven't made
any changes in well over a year.

I am using a Motorola set-top cable box from Comcast. I was using the
serial connectors....and like I said it had been working great!

I went thru the troubleshooting suggestions...they are all very basic.
Restart Tivo, Restart cable box, Check connections, etc....problem remains!
I went theu the cable box set up...choosing serial connectors and the
Mototola cable box...but still the same problem!

When I change channel manually with the Tivo remote...the info/guide overlay
shows the new channel and the program information for the new channel....but
the cable box just stays put. (I can change the cable box manually....but
obviously I need to find a way to let Tivo change it's own channels.)

I would prefer NOT to go back to the IR system...which always appeared a
little "iffy" when I used them a long time ago with another box. I love the
direct connection of the serial connector.

So.....How do I diagnose?

Is it a tivo software issue?

Is it a Comcast cable box Motorola issue?

Is it something else?

Did something change (software upgrade) that made things suddenly not work?

Has anyone had this kinda thing happen?

Thanks for your help and assistance....

David
