My understanding is that once two drives are married, if EITHER dive fails, you
get to start over.

There are services out there that can sell you a new drive(s) and you can drop
it in, and start again from the guided setup. Places like WeaKnees, Hinsdale,
and DVRUpgrade.

Subject: [TiVo Central] data from a half-dead ser1

My parents' Series1 stopped working. I got a look at it and it sounds
like the second hard drive suffered the click-of-death so I unhooked it
and now the thing goes into a reboot loop. I get the "wait a few more
seconds please" screen about once every two minutes. Is there any way to
convince it to forget about the second drive? mfscopy the data to a new
disk, perhaps? Is that data usable without the second drive?

The only reason this thing is worth saving is the lifetime subscription
that's tucked away in there.

Thanks!
