EchoStar/DISH Network actually. They've had a patent infringement case going for years and years now. TiVo won, it was appealed, the appeal held up part of the verdict but it was sent back down, etc. TiVo was awarded a around $100 million a couple of years ago, but just recently they got another $200 million plus legal fees and some other stuff, bringing the total to around $400 million. The new award was for continued infriengement and DISH violating an injunction. And the case continues, TiVo could receive further damages yet. EchoStar/DISH, of course, continues to appeal. TiVo also recently filed suit against AT&T and Verizon for DVR patent infringement for U-Verse and FiOS. TiVo already has licensing deals in place with Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, Time Warner, and RCN. DirecTV has a patent license which covers their in-house DVRs, and will be bringing back DirecTiVos in 2010 (pushed back from 2009). Comcast and Cox are slowly rolling out the TiVo cable box software, and Time Warner signed on this summer to use it as well. RCN will be deploying actual TiVo boxes as their DVRs, with custom software which integrates OnDemand support. These will be new TiVo boxes according to my RCN contacts - most likely the rumored 'Series4' TiVo that has been in development. -MZ -- megazone-at-megazone.org http://www.MegaZone.org/ Gweep, Geek, Human, me. http://www.GizmoLovers.com/ http://www.Eyrie-Productions.com/ -><- Hail Eris "A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men" 508-852-2171
