Okay, here is the deal... I just picked up a used series 3 TiVo. The people that had it before me told me that sometimes the remote doesn't work. They contacted Tivo help and they told them that it was probably not getting a clear signal because of another device or mirrors or something. They couldn't figure it out so Tivo sent them a new remote, this didn't work either. They got around the problem by using an IPhone app to control the Tivo since it used the wireless adapter rather than the remote sensor. (I don't have an IPhone so this soulution doesn't work out so well for me)
Anyway, I got it home thinking that maybe a new environment would solve the problem if it was indeed interference from another device. The problem is that it didn't fix the problem at all. I have tried both peanut remotes as well as my Harmony remote that I use for my other Tivo. So far none of them are working, (the peanut worked when I tried it a couple hours earlier at the home of the previous owner) According to the previous owners the remote would work about 70% of the time and not work 30% and they couldn't figure out any pattern or reason for why it would decide to work or not work. Any ideas? Thank you in advance...
