thank you for the keyword : state='readonly'. This is what I needed. It doesn't show in any of the general documentation I had on Tkinter, but it is indeed in the Tk man page of the "Entry" widget. @ Michael O'Donnell : > The original poster should note that every time you want to change > the text displayed, you need to change the state to normal, change the > text, and then re-assert state='readonly'.
