Yes, the deb package creates ~/.xtlf and copies configuration from
/usr/share/xtlf/config.

When you upgrade the deb package from 1.01 beta to 1.02 beta it is
recommended to first remove ~/xtlf.

Also, it isn't very wise to mix old and new beta versions, please stick to
the latest version. Otherwise you might get into trouble because of paths
that have changed.

I would recommend removing ~/xtlf and ~/.xtlf and start from scratch.
