Having said that, since TLS has taken over PKIX' role as the IETF's security RFC mill I expect it'll get published no matter what, so in practice I'm not planning to lose much sleep over it and just ignore it after it's published, as people did with a lot of the PKIX RFCs. It's an FYI, not a you-must-do- this-or-else, so everyone's free to ignore it at their leisure.
