Let's see if I understand this. For the sake of example, let's say your machine's name is 'dorothy'. So its FQDN is dorothy.air.net.au. Your smarthost accepts mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and forwards it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] That latter address is the recipient that TMDA sees. Since TMDA builds the confirmation reply address from the recipient address, it ends up with the FQDN. You have two choices, I think. Either configure the smarthost to forward mail to your machine without changing the envelope recipient (may be difficult or impossible) or follow Danny's suggestion to use CONFIRM_ADDRESS.
