I meant in the environment, which is usually where TMDA gets its
information.

qmail also throws it away, but there is an algorithm for
reconstructing the original recipient using some env info combined
with parsing the virtualdomains file. TMDA does this where necessary.

No, use RECPIENT_HEADER if you need this ability.
