FWIW, this isn't a reliable way to insure that bounces are received.

Post the LOGFILE_INCOMING entry of one of the bounces that wasn't let
through.  This will make it easier to guess what might be happening.

It's very likely that in one of these steps the <> was qualified with
an address.

I'd just use a 'dated' envelope sender address in our outgoing
messages from now on as described in FAQ 5.4 and not worry about it.
