Newsgroup headers are quite similar to mail headers, and I've been told that the NNTP protocol is very simple. I'd expect that a daemon similar to tmda-ofmipd can be written reusing lots of the existing TMDA code. The major question is probably whether news reader agents in general are capable of specifying custom nntp ports. I'd like to see this TMDA addition, but only as a "nice to have" feature.
