Hey all,

I tried to post this a couple days ago via the gmane NNTP interface, but it appears to
be on the fritz. So, sorry if you get this twice.

Well, stil very much settling in to my new qmail environment. This sure is different
from sendmail.

As I mentioned previously - I am using qmail/vpopmail/etc from qmailtoaster.com. I
just ran across a strange probelm I wanted to share with the list (especially Gre7g).

I have vpopmail installed with a mysql backend, and I'm using the web-based qmailadmin
and vqadmin to manage my users. Recently, I tried to make my account ([EMAIL
PROTECTED]) a "domain administrator", so I could use my vpopmail login to add users to
my domain, etc, without having to use a seperate "postmaster" login. Making this
account toggle via the web interface seemed to have only the effect of changing the
value of "pw_gid" for the user's row in the database. All users have "pw_uid" and
"pw_gid" of zero (completely virtual installation, so this makes sense), the gid was
changed to 4098 (does not exist in /etc/group).

As soon as I did this - the user's authentication into tmda-cgi started to fail.
Manually going into the database and changing the value back to zero resovled the
issue.

This could be something particular to my setup (maybe vpopmail's idea of the proper
admin GID is wrong?), I'm just not sure.

For now I will just tell people to continue using their postmaster logins rather than
aliasing postmaster over to their account.

  Regards,
   DV
