Only two in over two years. Not a bad little track record, given that the lists are _not_ subscribers-only lists. Independent of the mailing lists though, cracking down on bogus freemail is something that will help everyone that receives mail on my server. A large % of my total spam value is (or, was) from freemail addresses. > I would prefer you configure the list so that only subscribers can > post, rather than not allowing freemail accounts to post. What I ended up doing is refusing mail that claims to be from a freemail source (e.g, yahoo.com, hotmail.com) but which was relayed from a non-freemail host. Legitimate uses of freemail should not be affected, but this should stop almost all spam sent from a freemail address. This was done at the MTA (Postfix) level, not in TMDA. > Although imperfect, I would think that making it subscribers only > would suffice. Except for true read-only lists (such as tmda-announce and tmda-cvs) I don't like the idea of a subscribers-only mailing list. They are extremely inconvenient for non-subscribers to participate in. This is where TMDA comes in handy. It allows non-subscribers to post while still keeping the list spam-free. _____________________________________________ tmda-users mailing list ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://tmda.net/lists/listinfo/tmda-users
