However, I'm not seeing mail outgoing from TMDA (i.e. confirmation requests) getting properly tagged yet. They still show "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", which is the value of my BOUNCE_ENV_SENDER variable.

Your outgoing filter only affects mail going out because of tmda-ofmipd or tmda-sendmail. BOUNCE_ENV_SENDER is used for TMDA-generated emails only. Thus [EMAIL PROTECTED] should be the right envelope for your confirmation requests. These are different things for different purposes. You want the outgoing mail you personally send to have a dated envelope so that you can receive bounces properly. You want the outgoing mail TMDA sends to have a special envelope so that you can discard these, or maybe save them if you love reading bounce notices.

I drop all mail incoming to my BOUNCE_ENV_ADDRESS as it is only ever generated if the original incoming mail used a bad envelope sender (implying spam), in which case I don't want to see either the original message or the bounce notice.
