Trying to use the deliver binary from cyrus to put messages in a mailbox did not work for me, since TMDA runs as local user. Deliver can be made to run as cyrus (using sudo) but this gives problems with regards to the TTY allocation.
An alternative situation (which currently works in my test setups) can be made as mentioned in http://mla.libertine.org/tmda-users/2003-12/msg00339.html
In short, delivery first goes to TMDA, which decides to re-inject it into postfix again, to a different rcpt address, after which delivery to cyrus takes place.
I'll write an email with configuration snippets and details later this evening, I need dinner first :)
