This might have been your problem.  TMDA's default is
/var/qmail/control/virtualdomains.

This is the default in TMDA.  If you haven't set it to 0 in your
config file, then you don't need to set it at all.

Are you inserting the "X-Originally-To" header in your email when you
receive them, before TMDA sees them?  Unless you've explicitly done
so, this configuration variable should be left empty.  It certainly
won't help you unless you're using something like formail (comes with
procmail) or reformail (comes with maildrop) to insert this header.
