My customer had a single entry on his whitelist, confirmed, revoked and blacklist - his own email address in all cases. He was experimenting with the software. When he tried to delete himself from the lists, he observed that if the file was completely empty, it would not save properly. His email address wouldn't leave the lists - but once he replaced his email with a space, it saved fine.
A space or a newline is the proper workaround for now. It's kindof a browser bug... Mozilla Firefox/firebird/phoenix, for example, does not send an empty string when you submit the form with the feild empty, it doesn't send the feild at all! This is now fixed in CVS, so the next release will not have this issue.
