It looks like you're probably running stable (woody).  Here's what I
found:

http://packages.debian.org/stable/interpreters/python2.2

You should be able to get this using your favorite method (dselect,
aptitude, apt-get ...)

If you have further questions about debian, it seems you'd be better off
asking the debian-user mailing list.  We've had many RedHat refugees
there in the last couple of months, and I think we've done a fair job of
supporting them.
