I think we're on the same page. Where you say, "Some auto-responders leave absolutely no indication whatsoever that they are machine generated messages...", those are the ones I'm looking to match. 8-) [explanation] >I'm not aware of any further tests that can be done, but let me know if >you think of one. Well, nothing I'd call reliable. In looking through some of the messages I have laying around, I came up with things like: Reply-To: noreply@ Return-Path: errors@ Subject: Out of Office AutoReply: Those are strings I saw in some messages my TMDA challenged. I would NOT suggest adopting them globally. I'm not even sure they match more than one message in my own mass of thousands in pending. I think TMDA's existing checks are best (and I appreciate your long detailed description of them!), but I wondered if someone had not-nearly-best patterns that worked for them. >Some auto-responders leave absolutely no indication whatsoever that >they are machine generated messages (i.e, Microsoft), and so TMDA has >no way to detect and trap these. Those are the ones I'm trying to detect. I'll muddle along with my own analysis. Maybe I should write something to look at this stuff for me...
