This really was an exact cut and past.  Sigh, it's been a REALLY long 
time since I had to think about the format of .qmail files.

My thinking no doubt was that the "." at the beginning of the second 
line was telling qmail that the FOLLOWING path denoted where the 
"fallen" through mail should be delivered.  That is I thought qmail 
would see the path as "/var/vpop..." NOT as "./var/vpop..." (note the 
dot at the beginning).

It would seem as though until this very day where I've for the first 
time tried to use the challenge/response aspects of tmda no mail ever 
made it to the second line of the file.
