thanks everyone for the advice,

i've turned on SPF in courier, specifically added " opt 
BOFHSPFMAILFROM=pass,none " to my
bofh file so this should take care of it as I'm filtering for valid "FROM".

I haven't looked at SpamAssassins SPF checks, but I will also
