Which docs are you referring to?
<http://tmda.net/config-pre.html#postfix> just requires that you
enable recipient_delimiter so that tagged addresses will work. This
will not affect other users who aren't using TMDA.

TMDA is invoked through the user's ~/.forward file. Users who want to
use TMDA should modify .forward as described in
<http://tmda.net/config-server.html>. Users who do not should leave
.forward alone.
