I am trying to create a web page where you can generate a dated, keyword, or sender address. I don't use sender restricted addresses so I had to check the TMDA web site to find WHICH address is compared to the address you encode.
I believe this is the envelope sender, which isn't listed, right? Is this typically shown in one of the headers anyway? How do you figure out which address to use? Anyhow, my futile attempt to find this information last night made me realize (or re-realize, I should say, since I stumbled over this problem when I first got into TMDA) that there isn't any good documentation on the different types of addresses that TMDA can generate and accept. Before anyone gets angry and starts pointing out this FAQ or that, let me just say that I did search through the FAQs last night and if there is a good FAQ on this topic then it isn't clearly labelled because I couldn't find it. This is a pretty fundamental piece of TMDA and I think it merits a whole page either under Overview or Usage. This should not be tucked away and hidden. The page should document: The different types of addresses you can generate. How to generate these (with tmda-address or your outgoing filter). When you should use the different types of addresses. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each. An explanation of how they work and what fields they look at (and even an example or two would be great). My 2.
