It should work fine with virtual DOMAINS. I've never tested it with them, but if I understand correctly, a virtual domain only affects the receiving of mail. It shouldn't have any affect on pending messages. Or do you mean virtual users? If so, please e-mail me directly and tell me about your setup and what software you've set-up (URLs would be greatly helpful) so I can look into what must be added to accomadate your needs.
