Anyway, I was thinking that the current Message-ID functionality described under FAQ #5.5 could be expanded, using TMDA's HMAC algorithms. It should be possible to generate cryptographically strong Message-ID's, so that TMDA would automatically be able to verify that a Message-ID in the References: or In-Reply-To: field was actually in reply to a message that the TMDA user sent. In addition, it should even be possible to generate Message-ID's that expire after a certain time, just like tagged addresses.
