i've had TM & GB since april 2004 and i'm 73....after reading about HEYJUDE and her broken bones... i  guess i have a question about that..i know that as you grow older your bones change but do we have to be more careful about what we do and are our bones more brittle because of our medical problems...has anyone had bone problems because of TM and how were you told to handle it..my doctor hasn't told me anything about that...
thank you one and all and a//////////////// HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE////////////////////////
Hi All,

Sorry, but was back in the hospital overnight for a cracked pelvic bone from trying to self catheterize.  The way I hear it is this:

As long as a person is weight bearing at all, as long as you are standing, walking, anything like that, your bones will be ok.  It is when they get no use from weight bearing at all, that they become so brittle.

My bones have been categorized as:

severe osteoporosis and severe osteopenia with severe demineralization.

The docs are not sure as to why my bones are degenerating so quickly, but it is going to be a battle for me to keep myself on an even keel once these are healed.  I happened to break both the tibia and fibula on each leg.

I don't think that most of you are at the stage where you need to worry about brittle bones like mine, unless you do not weight bear at all.  Then, I guess I would talk to my doc about it and go on from there.

Since my 'puter seems to be messing up right now, this is a good place as any to stop.  If you have any questions, let me know.  I will answer all that I can.

Peace,
Jude
