Barbara, there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of embryos (up to age of 8 weeks, from therapeutic abortions) that are destined to be thrown away every day. these early embryos are very small, but can be used to obtain embryonic stem cells.
Since the pope has told us that life begins at conception ( when the sperm meet the ovum, but often given the date of coitus), and since we know that ovums and sperm can survive from hours to days before conception either in the vagina, uterus and fallopian tubes. the sperm and ovum will die unless conception takes place So it makes sense to criminalize puberty, the menstral cycle and masturbation, wet dreams, etc.- sexuality!!! the only thing to do is to make sure that neither sperm or ova are allowed to die, ie, lots of coitus, unprotected from an early age, with resulting successful pregnancies, painful births and healthy happy babies, lots of them. That is why the pope told us about life beginning at coitus, and if you are smart enough, you realize, life actually starts before coitus. monty python had a skit about this years ago pH
