PLEASE think long and hard about the morphine implant.  I
had one for about a year and got Spinal Meningitis from an infection in the pump.  I almost died.  I was in the hospital for 4 weeks and spent 2 1/2 months in a rehab
hospital.  I was paralyzed from the waist down for 2 months.  I had the implant put in due to nerve damage from a botched back operation.  TM was another result of the
implant infection.

Today I spend most of my life in bed.  I might get out of the house once a month other than my doctors appts.  I have pain 24/7 on a level of 7 to 10.  For the past 8 years
I have not had a pain free minute.  I have tried every device or medication known to man.  In another email I will discuss Lyrica and Symbalta, 2 drugs that show some
promise.

Based on my experience and the fact that infection kills so many people in hospitals and medical facilities I would
have to say, buyer beware!!!!!  I will be happy to discuss the matter with you in length if you wish.

Me too, have just started on  Methadone but my name is down on that list to be assessed for a pump, any info would be appreciated! (I’m apprehensive because of my tendency to infection et al.)

Hi Alton and all,

You say that you are giving up on the baclofen pump.  I have been pondering whether or not to have one put in for at least a year.

It seems as though there aren't many people out there who have them and it also seems like there are plenty of pros and cons.

Will you please explain to me and anyone else who might be interested, why you are ready to give it up?  I'd really like to know everything about it, from as many people as I can, before I go through the surgery and expense.

Thank you so much,

Jude

Visit My Mail Stamp! Hello All,

So far I have not heard anything from Alton.  What kind of information about your experience with the baclofen pump can you share with us?

Of course the doctors and makers of the two pumps make it all sound rosy and bright, but I'm not so sure after listening to you and Bernie.

Please send us your thoughts, Alton.
Peace,
Jude
