Hi, I am new to this list. Just a little background. 7 mos ago I was on the golf course (I have been playing golf for the last 9 years and tennis at least 5 days a week for the last 25 years) when I had this feeling down the back of both of my legs as if I were being electrocuted. Couldnt move from the waist down. 7 mos later the neurologists still havent given me an accurate diagnosis. They ruled out Guilliane Barre because didnt have enough criteria for that. Seemed to have ruled out TM. One thinks I may have had a spinal cord stroke which other drs. have never heard of. Hi Rosalie,
Welcome to the TMIC list. It's no fun getting here, but for
people with spinal cord injuries it is a Blessed place to be. We are all
warm, congenial people who get a bit cross every once in a while do to all of
the frustrations we go through every day.
I am with you about being anal regarding my house. It used to
be perfect. Four years later, I am ashamed to have people walk into the
front door...back door is worse! LOL
My husband works six days a week and we have a large home with five
acres for him to mow and maintain. He cannot take care of me and do
everything that needs to be done otherwise. I know what you mean by
"looking away" and ignoring what I see that needs to be cleaned, dusted,
vacuumed, etc.
I am paralyzed from the "nipple line" on down, with no sensation or
movement except for my arms (Thank God) and my head. At the moment I have
two broken legs as well, due to severe osteoporosis, so have two casts to lug
around with me whenever I try to get into my wheelchair. I have been
confined to bed rest, keeping my legs up, since the first of December. The
bones are healing, but at a snail's pace.
Please keep on writing and emailing. Ask any and all
questions you have and someone will try to answer you or send you to a site
where you can find the information you need.
It is a Blessing that you have little pain. It is a real
issue with most of us and causes little quality of life if not medicated.
You will find that it seems like most of the doctors are still in the
middle=ages when it comes to spinal disorders.
Take care of yourself.
Peace,
Jude
