What are they treating your osteoporosis with?  I'm sure sorry to hear that you've got brittle bones. How are you feeling now?

Hello Anne,

Yes, your mail came through on the TMIC site.  You are so fortunate to have had recovery and are able to walk...I am envious.

My 4th anniversary of TM onset will be here in June.  I am a T4 Complete Paraplegic with no sensation, no movement, no B & B control.  Also, no hope of ever walking.

Recently I have been diagnosed with extreme osteoporosis "complete demineralization" of my bones because of being a non-weight-bearing individual.  Unfortunately, not one doctor shared the fact that brittle bones are one of the most dangerous side effects of being a complete para.  I'd love to make a case of it, but am afraid I would never again find a doctor to treat me.

I broke both tibia and fibula bones in both legs and have been in casts since the first week in December.  I was in the hospital, then in a nursing home, and finally got to come home when my husband could take time off of work to get me settled in.  The Orthopedic surgeon says I will need to be in the casts for at least another two months, maybe more.  Now, I am going to be afraid to move them around once they are free and unprotected.

Thank you for writing and wanting to share your experiences with us.  It will give a lot of people hope to hear from someone who was lucky and walking.  I'm sure you have a lot of valid information that will help out.

My best to you,
Jude
