Likewise, apologies all around if my frankness about the subject
offended anyone. We all have our own opinions and feel differently
about certain things, that's what makes us humans. This has been a
good debate I feel, well represented and well argued from both
sides--let's not start nitpicking little things about each other's
emails, but rather take the whole discuession as a learning
experience. I thoroughly enjoy debating fairly hot topics, and it
becomes the usual line of conversation when my friends and I go
out--and inevitably someone goes on the offensive against the other
people, but we all know it's in good fun and not meant to hurt
anyone's feelings. Same goes here.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers,
Terry

Agreed. I do want to clear up that I am not for embryonic stem cell

research or deny funds because of this one part of stem cell research as a
whole. The WHOLE issue needs to be addressed and not just one aspect of it.
In other words, don't poop on the rest of the research because you disagree
with one part. Cut that part out and APPROVE the other research monies.
As far as ATF and the clueless idot part. My apologies to anyone it
offended, but like I said before, you have to factor in the emotional side
of it. I was clearly upset about it because I have strong emotions about
the subject.

Can we call a truce? Maybe it will spread throughout the world....ya never
know.

No condescension was intended. I never said anyone was being vulgar
(although, looking back over the posts, I consider the phrase "WTF" to be
vulgar, but I never commented on that).

In your first posts on this subject, you used words like "clueless" and
"idiot." You were talking about Bush but seemed to indicate that you would
include those words to anyone who felt as he did about embryonic stem cell
research.Maybe I read too much into your comments, and if so, I am sorry.

We're in agreement that we should be able to hold and express different
opinions without others of our group looking down on us. I feel like using
words like "clueless" and "idiot" is looking down on someone and just adds
unneeded heat to the conversation.

Other than that I think the conversation has been very civil.

Barbara,

I really enjoy communicating with you and I respect your opinion, but I
honestly feel that your response was condescending in itself. I wasn't
being vulgar. I was just plainly venting. Right or wrong. Even if there
was a line, I do not believe I stepped over it.

Nobody said it wasn't ok to voice opinions -- that's what we're all doing.
:-)

I'm fine with attacking the issue. But I don't think we need to attack the
person, whether it's the president or another TMer. We don't need to resort
to name-calling and condescension with those with whom we disagree.

I think talking about controversial issues is helpful in understanding each
other's side and way of thinking, but it can be civil.

Since when is it not ok to voice our opinions on this list anyway? This is
a very touchy subject and emotions run high (hence the name calling) If I am
upset and want to "vent" even if I get a little sideways....Is that now not
ok?
Can we not attack an issue with conviction and not be looked down upon by
certain people in our "support group"
