I've looked into the different phone service plans to try to
save money. The problem I have with any VOIP service is that 911 doesn't work
the same. They all mention this in the fine print. Also since the phone service
is over your high speed internet access (DSL or Cable) it goes through your dsl
or cable "modem", so during a power outage you have no phone access either.
In response to Jim Lubins comment: ACN has what is called E-911 on the VOIP. It's
$23.99, and with the E-911, it's definately a cut above Vonage in my
opinion. But, that's just my opinion. In an emergency, you
definately want emergency services to be able to find
you. This is one of the main reasons that I ACN.
I agree with the power outage issue though. Most people have cell
phones that do work during a power shortage, and they also have home
service. ACN doesn't have cell service at this time, but will in the
future. I only say this in case anyone has this question.
Just an fyi, again. Hope this answers any questions.
