I had the EMG on my legs finally. I have been putting it off since January. I had already been told by one neuro that I had peripheral neuropathy and (as he abruptly walked out the door) "I can guarantee this isn't from MS because MS pain is not symmetrical" . So I ditched that neuro and I went back to my first neuro for the test. Guess what? There is is nothing wrong with my legs, according to the EMG. I asked "then why the heck do they hurt so bad?" Doc feels that the pain is caused from the lesions I have on both sides of my brain that governs sensory issues. So I guess that other jerky neuro who "Guaranteed" the pain wasn't from MS was not so correct, was he? lol
I have been on 3200 mg. of Neurontin, 80 mg. of Baclofen, a little Klonopin, and 60 mg. of Cymbalta. The Cymbalta was started this summer and it cut the severe nocturnal leg pain in half. At least then I could sleep some. Now the past month the pain has been increasing again.
The neuro wants me on Lyrica and I'm to wean off of the Neurontin. I'm staying on Cymbalta for now but we'll see what changes to make in 6 weeks. The problem is my insurance has denied the Lyrica. I was able to get samples of the Lyrica to start on while the doc fights the insurance. Yesterday was my first day on Lyrica. I know for sure it helped the Trigeminal Neuralgia pain and I think it helped my legs.
For those on Lyrica--what time of day do you take it?
