After I was dxíd with TM, my neurologist at the time, Dr. Timothy
Vollmer, discussed a spinal tap with me. He was confident that my
diagnosis of TM was correct, (I had been tested at Yale-New Haven for
about 6 years, where he worked). He said that he would only want me
to,have my spinal fluid examined if he felt there was a possibility I
had MS, but he didnít believe that was the case. I was happy because my
Father had spinal anesthesia once and the anesthesiologist made a
mistake which affected my Fatherís eyes. Thankfully his eyes improved
with time. More than a headache, I would be worried that a nerve could
be damaged during a spinal tap. My last neurologist was constantly
pressuring me to get a nerve biopsy and a spinal tap. I said NO and NO,
and she didnít like that. She wrote me a letter that she would no
longer take me as a patient. Too bad, I was just about to dump her.
She also once broke the machine she was using to do an EMG on me by
banging it into the wall.
Has anyone been hearing the reports of how many people are dying from
infections gotten in hospitals? Even the blood pressure cuffs can cause
them. Think about how many are checked with the same cuffs without
protective paper. Gross.
