Hello Bernie, I just want you to know that I have been praying for Laurie
and I will continue to do so. You are in my prayers as well. Please let us
know how the surgery went. Remember, you have a big Family here and many
many good friends.

Subject: [TMIC] OT OT OT - my daughters surgery, and need of hopes and
prayers

Hello friends and family,
Well, today is the big day. Laurie goes under the scalpel for the
removal of her thyroid. This sounds like a very moderate surgery, and not
risky at all. A normal thyroid is about the size of a small butterfly and
is located in the front of the neck, below the larynx (voice box). The
small, two-inch gland consists of two lobes, one on each side of the
windpipe. But in her case, her thyroid is so big (the size of a tennis ball
or baseball) that they are afraid the when they try to remove it, it will
cause a thyroid storm of such magnitude that they will not be able to
control her heart-rate, breathing, and blood pressure.. This is why they
waited in the first palce.... "hoping" againsy hope that they could shrink
it. This last doctor who looked at it said they were nuts to even try to
shrink it, it was an impossibility. Since that first diagnosis, it has grown
another 15% in size, making it even more dangerous to remove than if they
had done it in the first place. And the only reason in my opinion it was not
done immediately was that she had no insurance or money. This last doctor
didn't care that she had no insurance or money, he called her doctors and
told them that "he was not sending her home to die", and if he had to he
would find new doctors to treat her now, and they could deal with the
aftermath of possibly being sued..... big cudo's for this real doctor who
sees the patient and not f*cking dollar signs. Anyhow, I need all of your
prayers today, she is going into surgery at 12:00 noon...... Thank you all.
Blessings and Peace,
Bernie
