For about 3 weeks I've had severe pain in my left hip (what used to be my good
leg). I've had pain for a long time, but I figured it was from putting my
weight on my 'good leg' since the leg that was originally paralyzed still had a
lot of numbness and 'malfunction'. But for the last 3 weeks its so bad that I
sometimes can't sleep and can't stand to sit for more than a few seconds.
Staying on my feet is okay, but tiring. Laying on my stomach with ice on my
hip is the best, but not like I can't still feel the pain. Laying on my back
sometimes still hurts that hip, but sometimes its okay.
Some professionals are saying Sciatica, but the recent MRI showed no nerve was
pinched in my spine. Piriformis Syndrome is a condition where the piriformis
muscle is maybe inflamed and pressing on the sciatic nerve so that it feels
like sciatica, and that could be the case. However, the physiatrist who's
supposed to diagnose this is busy until almost mid-July. In the meantime, I
can't even go to my PT (and I was really making progress!) b/c sitting in the
Handi Van or even the car is too extremely painful.
Has anyone had any experiences that relate to this? I'm open to suggestions
here.
Thanks,
Sally
