I never called the doctor to refill my meds. I called the pharmacy
as I ALWAYS do and they called me back that the doctor
refused to refill my meds. Then I called the doctor and they
wanted me to come in regardless of how ill I am.
Yes I take my responsibity very seriously and keep track of
my own medications.

Hi,
The person on the phone who spoke to you was wrong about the way
she handled it.But,don't you have some responsibility in all this? How
can a medical practice know when each patient runs out of meds?
When I notice that my pills are getting low,I reorder them.It says
how many refills are left on the bottle,so if you get them
monthly, call the doc when there are 2 refills left;that gives you 3
months to get new scripts.I just reordered my 3 month supply, and I
have 1 refill left on everything.I see my doc every 3 months (I have
diabetes that isn't in good control),and when I need refills,I write
down all my meds, doses, etc.,hand it to him and he prints out the
scripts.I send it out,and when the time comes,I reorder.That way I
never run out.
As for a doc calling to say he/she needs to see your mother,I've
never heard of it.That doc must have some kind of computer program set
up.I make my appts.when I see the doc;that way it is every 3 months.
So many of the people on the list have had bad experiences with
docs.My HBO and the docs have been great.I belonged to the HMO for a
few yrs before tm,and I've always been treated well.No hesitations on
tests etc.when needed.Your doc is being responsible in wanting to see
you.If you state you need meds until you can be seen,I'm sure he'll
renew them until then.
Why do you need to go by ambulance?Isn't there some medical van
service where you live?Or is it like where I live,no services
available because I don't live within 1 1/2 miles of a fixed bus route?
Kevin,I am not being mean, just stating my opinion.
