*Yes, Devic's NMO is a disease of it's own with relapsing TM, optic neuritis, and eventually in 60% of patients, brain lesions---but not in a pattern consistent with MS. Within five years, 33% of patients will die during an acute attack, 50% will be paralyzed in at lease one limb (Often more.) and will be blind in at least one eye. (Often bilaterally) It's a very serious disease.* ** *Our lesions differ from the lesions of standard TM in that they are massive (Covering at least three segments of cord or more.) and often become necrotic with cavitations. We carry an antibody called the NMO IgG for the disease. It requires very aggressive treatment. Hope this helps.* ** *Gracie*
