Hi Krissy
He's a doctor and hasn't had TM. He'll never know what you are experiencing.
"It is what it is." You put that so well.
Have you talked to your GP about restless leg syndrome? You might also ask
your neuro about switching from Neurontin to Lyrica. I find that the Lyrica
works faster than the neurontin so I get relief faster. This might help you
in the evening.
Maybe you could start your neurontin earlier so is it working when you need
it. I took 600mg each dose, you might try that instead of starting with 300mg.
You will have a good place to start your discussion when you tell your neuro
what you have already tried. Apologize profusely to him about not getting eht
MRI - then explain to him why. He doesn't understand the money aspect, but he
needs to hear it anyways.
My neurologist has shared his thoughts about patients as a whole (and grouping
me in with them) to my daughter because their paths cross almost weekly at the
hospital where she works full time. He doesn't like it when patients (me)
don't do as he suggests. He gave me a higher dose of meds and I won't take
that much, but I still complain of pain. He suggested another MRI and I asked
why? He said I rank with about 60% of his patients and it is frustrating as a
doctor. I try to remind myself of this and discuss things so he understands
me. The higher dose affects my brain function. MRI's are expensive and does
he expect to see anything new? I ask if there are new meds that won't affect
me mentally. My appointments are more about discussing where I'm at with TM
than about testing my body. (It is what it is and I am where I am.)
I know. Ask your Neuro if you are a bad patient. Tell him he seems rushed
and that you feel he has given up on you. See if he suddenly changes his
manner.
Let us know.
