I replied to Melissa about my experience of buying two pairs of leather oxfords
to wear with my AFO in the winter. I thought everything fit fine, however, I
injured the top of my foot, because there wasn't enough flexability in the top
of the shoe. I recently used it in a pair of inexpensive Danskin "tennis"
shoes that have a lot of soft mesh fabric and I was more comfortable than when
I wear my expensive all-leather tennis shoes.
I am unfamiliar with the Born Shoe brand and wonder if you are able to purchase
them locally or if you buy on-line. Are you able to buy your usual size or
did you have to buy 1/2 size larger and pad the non AFO foot with shoe insoles?
The Danskin was the first shoe that stretched enough for the AFO and soft
enough all around that I didn't need to make changes to my "other" shoe.
