Regina, interesting that you are asking the question of single payer health care. Are you on Medicare? Do you or your family have VA coverage?
If in doubt of Congress getting lobby money from Insurance Co., here's an interesting website: http://www.opensecrets.org/indivs/search.php?name=&state=&zip=&employ=insurance&cand=&c2010=Y&sort=N&capcode=r8r83&submit=Submit I have 3 personal stories to share with my congress people - as a single mom (years ago but the problems I had), my brother dying of cancer this year and the insurance co. declaring that it was a pre-existing condition and refusing paying, my COBRA before Medicare - payments started at $348 a month - 6 months later $537 then after 18 months going to $987 a month for 6 months before I received Medicare which is now $98 a month! With my other insurance I was paying same for meds as I'm paying now! I figure that if there is no public health plan, the insurance co. own the general public - let alone Congress! My vote - we need a public plan! Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably . And never regret anything that made you smile. Prayers and thoughts for you and yours, Candy K. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Regina Rummel" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, August 3, 2009 10:19:09 AM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: [TMIC] OT/Healthcare What do you think of "Single Payer", or "Public Insurance Option" or anything else as opposed to our existing system? I am curious to hear what our group thinks of what's going on in Congress regarding this healthcare situation. Do some in our group live in Canada? I would love to hear your comments about your experiences with your healthcare system. Have you personally experienced the long waits for important procedures that we hear so much about. Is there a "Wellness System" in Canada? Is it successful? Are you, Canadian TMers, satisfied with your system? And what about your prescription costs? I just paid $235.93 for 12 pills (Fosamax). That was my co-pay. The charge was $338.99. I won't even mention the cost of my other prescriptions. Comments and experiences please. R
