Thanks Patti,
We had a great Thanksgiving and I hope that you did also. It's nice that
the family is all close geographically again.
We have always spent time in the kitchen together, but our sons would of
course prefer making cookies and cakes to helping with the meals. And the most
fun was making the cookies during the holidays. We made so many and would give
to famiy and friends. That was what was fun when they were little. They loved
making the deliveries to our neighbors and saying that they helped make them.
Then as they got older, they'd put together what they wanted to eat since
they had a decent sense of the kitchen. It worked out great cause I closed
down my share of the kitchen after dinner, and after that they were on their
own. They had friends at the house all the time and would get encouraged to
cook for them. Dan, our youngest, actually had a couple of friends who would
shop for groceries and come to our house for Dan to barbeque or cook for them.
Dan would eat well and all he had to do was cook.
After I got TM I wasn't doing much with the holiday baking, and one year I
actually had my hubby buy the fixings and didn't get anything done with them.
Well, it was 2 days before Christmas and my son came by and noticed that there
weren't any cookies or any cookie dough in the fridge. He took the stuff home
and did the baking there and then shared the cookies. There would not be a
Christmas without cookies. The next Christmas he and family bought me a
Kitchenaid mixer to make it easier for me to bake. Now, every year they both
bug me about how I'm doing with my baking and what they need to do to help or
do they need to take over. It just isn't the holidays for me though until I do
some baking, plus I always try to bake a bit with the grandsons too.
The memories are good for all of us. And the skills they learn carry them
through their lives. They are all good eaters since they have helped with the
prep.

You're making some great memories with your grandsons Barbara. I bet you're
not
ust lucky your sons like to cook. You likely spent lots of time with them in
he kitchen too. Boys need as much kitchen attention as do girls. We
randparents are a blessed bunch! The memory making events are shaping their
ives.
appy Thanksgiving!

Just checking in to say Happy Thanksgiving to all. It was nice to hear that
ude is doing well and see all of the names pop-up checking in as well.

We've had the 3 grandsons here the past few days, and they range from 12, 7
nd 3 years old. I've played so many card games, puzzles and read stories,
atched videos, etc that I am ready for the house to settle down in a little bit
or a few hours before it all starts up again around 1pm tomorrow. We even made
omemade dinner rolls for tomorrow's dinner. It was fun to do, but a bit of a
hore to get all involved. Things like that just take more out of me than they
sed to.

I've got a spinach casserole to make in a couple of hours, then not much more
o do for our turkey dinner. I'm so thankful that both of our sons love to cook
nd pitch in!

 Enjoy all and be well.
