Finally got the results of what started the fire that destroyed
Sally and Sara's home. The neighbors (who were illegal immigrants) were
working on their car. They removed the gas tank and put it in a closed
room with the water heater. As soon as the vapors hit the pilot
light.... kablooie! The neighbors immediately fled back to Mexico from
what the border crossing list says, and of course they had no insurance.
Also, I found out that the car insurance is weird. The car was only a
year old, but apparently as soon as you drive a new one off the lot, it
automatically loses about 2 to 3 thousand dollars in value? So the
insurance will pay what the blue book value is, and Sally will be stuck
with the rest. Jumping Jiminy it's always something.
And apparently there is a misunderstanding as to my request for any
help I could get for them. *IF* you want to donate anything, even
dollars will help; make the checks or money orders out to Sally B.
Pelow, not to me. We are using my mailing address only because she does
not have one right now. They are really in a bind because even with both
their disability checks, they cannot come up with deposit, 1st months
rent, and pay for the hotel/motel they are staying at: until this can be
figured out. So I am pleading with everyone (except those who have made
a donation) for anything they can spare.... like I said, even single
dollars will help with enough of them. I wouldn't waste a check on those
though, just wrap them in a couple of pages of writing paper and mail
it. I would not ask if they were not in such dire straits.
For those who have sent a donation, my heartfelt thanks and
appreciation. Blessings on you and your families.
Peace,
Bernie in Texas
