The HOSPITAL rehab was fabulous---- food was fabulous-- they called it room service and it was! And the staff was informed, a team, expert --- i didn't have ENOUGH of that. One of my therapists tried to warn help me choose a good facility-- the system doesn't let you --- it's whichever one is open when your number is up, unless you can get a doctor to interceed for you. I missed getting in the secret # 1 rehab place.

The Nursing home/rehab was hell, where people were lied to, tormented, insulted. My pt was not done in a group where i got 5 minutes of attention. Unlike the hospital they only had one machine, and one mat and the inmates fought on who got on the mat --- i remembere being told to slide form one side of the mat to the other-- that was my exercise and a woman with a weeping wound from her leg rolled over to me and hissed "why are you here, it's my time to be here" I shrugged and said X told me to be here. Therapists would yank people off the scant equipment if their patient needed it. I sometimes missed therapy because the aides wouldn't help me get dressed and ready in time. The PT would yell at me and others as if we had control over our time.... it was the rare one who could dress and get themselves to the therapy room----
crazy....

When I was first dx with TM, the first hospital was a pit. The people were nice enough, but the food I won't feed to a dog. After a week, I was transferred to their larger hospital that had a rehab floor, mostly for people who had knee and hip replacement. My nurses and P.T. people couldn't have been nicer or more capable. Even the people who came in to clean were all so caring. I was there for over 4 weeks, and my room was the place they all spent their breaks. I was so glad to go home, but in one way I hated leaving all the wonderful care givers I had. I wish all could have that kind of care, especially when you consider what we pay for it.

Are all rehabs the same? I was charged $1600/day and treated like cattle.
