Pete and I went to visit Cindy at her "skilled nursing facility" residence on Sunday and she's doing pretty well for being bored silly and stuck in the bed. You have to remember that Cindy is very active in her community, as well as advocating disabled issues which help very many people. I cannot tell you all that she does, as my memory isn't good about such things and she isn't one to "toot her own horn" so to speak. I think she's handling this being stuck in bed thing VERY WELL. She says that she should be able to go home in about 2 weeks, but will need the help of some home health people to help care for her. I hope that she can, as there is no place like home to get well if you have the right care in place.
We brought her some chocolate and she was very excited since she had some things that had gotten misplaced during her transfer between the hospital and the nursing facility. Some of her favorite chocolates was one of the things. It was so much fun to see her enjoyment of our visit and how much she enjoyed the chocolate. Such a small thing can bring so much joy to someone going through something like this. She's been through a lot. I cannot duplicate Debbie's message enough to say that if any of her friends wants to call her or send a card, please do. She would appreciate it so much. If you could just imagine how lonely it has to be in there, I just cannot tell you. It was soooooo very quiet there. It actually made me feel guilty for not calling her more than I have been. I am so glad that we happened to be vacationing in the area as it is about 430 miles from our home. We had planned on seeing Cindy during this trip, but not in this way. Either way, it was great visiting with her again. Hugs, Barbara A in Auburn CA Hugs, Barbara A in Auburn CA
