Well Akua, my dear one; I hope you don't overload your thinking.
The Spoon Theory applied to my situation means that as I seem to be getting weaker, so that now I must budget the energy needed to do ordinary things, then I just have less capacity to give g=for these thoughts. Except as they hurt the lives of others. Tomorrow is 9/11/11. I saw the Towers fall on my little black-and-white TV, in Inwood, Manhattan. I jumped onto the south-bound subway and got out at 14th street and 6th ave, to see a pile of rubble and bodies 16 storeys high at the bottom of the island. Th streets were deserted of all traffic and we could walk strsight down 6th ave, the Avenue of the Americas, right up to the pile, as it came to be called. "My beautiful city! They mutilated it!" I thought, and still do. But after living in the Middle East for eight years, where so many people die violent deaths every week or so, blown up on their eay to do some shopping, or in their House of Worship,or picking their children up from school, all having mothers and fathers, or daughters, or sisters or brothers, all with hopes for children, owning a car, a nice apartment or house, to use a hair-dryer, all those ordinary things we want‹after this, I now believe that we must think of all these lives as equal in every way to the death of one of our own citizens. I am grateful to God for having been given this empathy for others.
