James, I don't know how long you have had tm, so it's hard to even guess what might be happening for you.
It would appear that recovery is broken into thirds. One third have complete or near to recovery. One third some amount of recovery, in varying degrees. One third have no recovery. You won't find anything from those who have completely recovered because obviously they just move on from here and get on with their lives. I am in the second group with some amount of recovery. in the sub category of walking wounded :) I found that by about the 3rd day after the attack, I had very minimal movement in my legs. With a great deal of effort, I could raise them a few centimetres. I just kept on doing this until I could eventually lift them quite some way. I then found I could stand with support and walk (well, sort of) with a walker. I didn't do any PT, I just walked as much as I could until I got stronger and more movement returned. All of this plateauxed at about 3 months. There are many of us though in your position and I'm sure you'll here from those people, love and light Gilly ----- Original Message ----- From: James Berg To: transverse myelitis Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2012 8:25 AM Subject: [TMIC] Extent of your TM? Pins and Needles From the discussion of Pins and Needles it seems that most of you are able to get around and have some use of your legs. I have pins and needles from my feet to my belly and no use of my legs at all. And they weigh a ton. Been like this since day one. Did any of you lose the use of your legs and then get them back? If so, how long did it take and how did you do it? Jim
