Hi, As a retired manager of a chiropractic clinic, I can try to explain how we used cold laser therapy.
When a person is injured with a sprain/strain to an extremity, such as an ankle, ice is applied for 20 minutes at a time, about every couple of hours. This is to reduce or shrink inflammation of the injured tissue. Cold laser therapy is used to reduce the bruising and/or to speed up the healing of the resultant bruising. Injury to the spinal cord such as ours (TM) is not an injury to an extremity. The pain we experience is due to the messages received by the brain that our leg, foot, arm, etc. are injured, and these are "confused messages" due to the scarring or lesion on the spinal cord. I have self-treated with cold laser to reduce swelling and bruising when I fall down (due to lack of balance caused by TM), but it has never proven to be beneficial for me for any other issues. Hope this helps. Debbie Sent from my iPod.
