Sr. Transportation Planner

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Sr. Transportation 
Planner with a Modeling emphasis in the Planning & Programming Department. 
Starting wage is dependent upon qualifications (DOQ).

ACHD offers an excellent benefit package which includes medical, vision and

Primary Responsibilities:
•Responsible for maintaining and managing the District's travel demand 
forecasting model for use in a variety of District functions. Manages the 
modeling software, analyzes transportation and land development applications, 
and prepares reports related to modeling efforts. Also manages appropriate 
planning projects, including but not limited to: scoping, budgeting, 
consultant selection and oversight, public outreach, and presentation before 
the public and elected officials.
•Serves as a technical lead for transportation planning and projects.
•Establishes and maintains cooperative internal working relationships with 
ACHD departments and numerous District employees. Also works with developers, 
consulting engineers, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), and 
members of the general public, as well as Federal, State, and local agency 
representatives.

Qualifications:
•Must have considerable knowledge of travel demand forecasting software, 
preferably Cube Software; application of travel demand modeling within a 
planning framework; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); computer 
programming techniques; analytical and statistical research methods; 
principles and practices of planning and development; and project management.
•Must be able to prepare and present technical reports, analyze and compile 
technical and statistical information; and independently investigate modeling 
problems.
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Urban Planning or 
related field and two years of relevant work experience is preferred. AICP 
Certification is a plus.
•Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides 
the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
