Hmm, I didn't see any pop-ups from that MSN article, but today at work there was a pop-under that, when visible for the first time, actually moves around the screen, daring you to catch it and close it, before finally giving up and stopping at some arbitrary point on the screen. I think it's finally time to download some anti-adware program ;)
